This is a true Caribbean surfing experience - it draws you into the surfing lifestyle in the Caribbean in a very traditional way. The Dominican Republic is located in the middle of the Caribbean and its location guarantees a great climate, warm waves and good consistent surf all year.

Surfing in the Dominican Republic is full of a land of contrasts – the physical kind, like the highest peak and the lowest point in the Caribbean. The island really is a beautiful place to visit and if you want a relaxing couple of weeks away, not spend too much money and get in some good surf then the Dominican Republic could be for you.

The memories you'll take away from your time in Dominican Republic are priceless. Widely regarded by travel insiders as the perfect place to experience the best of Caribbean surfing culture, the region allows you to get under the skin of this incredible country. Adventurous days filled with river, jungle and ocean exploration are rounded off with warm tropical nights of local revelry.

Surfing:

The main surf on the island is located along the north coast and is situated around Puerto Plata area where there are a number of easily accessible surf spots. Many are relatively uncrowded guaranteeing lots of waves. There are also surf spots on the south coast of the island but these are less consistent.

Accommodation:

Stay just outside Cabarete, but only a few hundred feet from the surf beach at Encuentro where there is a relaxed beach enclave offering a superb white sandy beach which is fantastic for surfing and kite surfing with friendly locals who will welcome you into their family. The spot is beautiful, not crowded and the people are friendly and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. These high quality apartments are suited for one, two or three persons (with an exception of four persons for people with children) with a kitchen, sofa, bathroom, terrace, 24 hours electricity, ventilation system and/or optional air-conditioning. Furthermore, there is a swimming pool in the large, tropical garden and a free Wi-Fi internet connection. We have with single beds and/or with a double bed and for small children and babies there are cribs available.

The apartments are located near 'Playa del Encuentro'. This is one of the most relaxed places on this island. It is a beautiful beach where you don't see the negative sides of tourism yet and great waves for surfing and kitesurfing. Also if you don't want to surf or kitesurf, you will definitely like it here. The Dominican Republic offers a great atmosphere and truly is a beautiful country and there is a lot to see and do in and around Cabarete.

Additional Services:

With this experience you can book locally other services - so you could rent a scooter at the accommodation (although this is at your risk!), take some other water sports activities extra to your surfing (such as kite surf lesson) or join one of the organised activities such as tours, supper parties, Sushi nights, etc..
