Come and discover perfect surf for all standards in southern Sumatra, where the coastline is riddled with fantastic waves for you to enjoy. Exploring new surf spots is the best part of any surf trip and this adventure provides you with the opportunity to do just that.

Sumatra has something for everyone to explore - lush rainforests, exotic flora and fauna, cascading rivers, sparkling crater lakes, beautiful white sand beaches, impressive volcanoes, limestone caves and an incredible diverse array of traditional ethnic groups who inhabit some of the most spectacular volcanic landscapes of the world.

Sumatra is about the size of California, and is the second largest island in the Indonesian archipelago and is formed by a longitudinal spine of mountains including 90 volcanoes. Sumatra is a wonderful and truly beautiful island with volcanoes and hot springs, lakes and rivers, rolling green foothills, plantations and wild jungle. The island boasts many reserves that protect the island's wealth of indigenous wildlife, including elephants, tigers, rhinos, orang-utans and tapirs.

Sumatra is an area packed full of top quality waves. This area attracts a large volume of swell all year long with the best period being between March to November. Sumatra has been popular with travelling surfers for a long while, the once inaccessible region becomes available for everyone. There are uncrowded spots out there waiting, they are probably peeling endlessly as you are reading this.  Sumatran swells are regularly 4-8ft in from March to November and 3-6ft throughout the rest of the year.

Accommodation:

Our accommodation is located directly on Mandiri surf beach providing immediate access to great surf. The accommodation offers a variety of entertainment for those wishing to relax after a long day surfing, we have satellite TV, DVD and even a billiards table as well as a long poker table! All along with ice cold beers and refreshments that are available 24 hours a day!

Surfing Opposite:

Mandiri beach is the most consistent surf beach in the southern region of Sumatra and your will find our accommodation is directly opposite one of the best of the peaks. Depending on the tide the beach can develop anything from walled up lines to hollow barrels and it is this exact spot that was featured in Surfer magazine in 2007, as a hidden secret of Sumatra.

In the surrounding area you will also find some other fantastic surf spots such as Ujung Bocur, Way Jambu, Jenny’s and others…  so you are certainly spoilt for choice.
