Why not learn to surf or expand your surfing skills with us on the volcanic canary island of Lanzarote 70 miles off the coast of Morocco. Lanzarote is the most northern of the Canary Islands chain and is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

During the past 30 years Lanzarote has been regarded as the Hawaii of Europe for surfing, this is with reference to its perfect and powerful surf that has the same similarity to that found on its tropical counter part of Hawaii.

Lanzarote central surfing community is located on the west side of the island in the small village just below the main volcano by the name of Famara. The small surfing village consists of 1,500 meters of beautiful surfing beach with magnificent backdrop of volcanic mountains and has become a Surfers' paradise, although retaining its pure innocents and simplicity. The Volcanic Island has produced a surreal yet beautiful red landscape and is part of the World Biosphere; Famara itself has been left in its natural state. Playa de Famara is considered by many to be its most beautiful surfing beach in Europe. The area from Playa de Famara to La Santa must rate as one of the best surf locations in Europe with a gigantic swell window that helps the island receive surf all year round.

Surfing:

During the winter time bigger swells travel down from the North Atlantic and generate solid surf along the reef breaks on the north shore. During the summer the waves are much smaller, but break everyday thanks to a light trade wind and with the average ocean temperature between 68F to 75F and daily air temperature of 68F to 85F its perfect all round.

Our surf school is very easy-going and has a friendly atmosphere to it but maintains the highest standards anywhere in the world. You will be coached for five full days. If you have surfed before you can be coached on turns, generating speed, wave selection and much more if you are new to surfing then you will experience the basics so that you will learn to love surfing. Our school is equipped with the latest boards and wetsuits to match the high standard of surf coaching. Surf coaching takes place from 10.30am until 4pm.

Your Accommodation:

The Xoxxi apartments are all located in the tranquil village of Caleta de Famara. This village is located in the volcanic national park and is in a protected area so no high rise buildings exist above 2 floors. For the evening in Famara you could enjoy having a good meal at the local restaurant and a cold beer after a long day of surfing. If you want nightlife then the busy resort of Puerto Del Carmen is a short taxi ride away (about 30 minutes).

The apartments are all within walking distance from the surf beach, the local bars and restaurants. The private apartments have one double room and one twin room or in some cases for larger groups, four separate beds, spacious living rooms and well equipped kitchens. The apartments are of excellent standard, very clean and well maintained.
