Droughts are common in the south and it is far greener to the north due to slightly cooler temperatures in the winter. The Air Temperature in Algarve ranges from 60's in the winter months to the high 90's in the summer.

Algarve Surfing encompassing the extreme tip of the European continent boast miles of coastline with some of the most dramatic surfing beaches to be found in Europe. The surf that arrives along this coastline is generated out of the North Atlantic Ocean. Arrifana and the local area is blessed by having such a big swell window, the bay picks up any swell in the Atlantic and this means that surfing every day is a common occurrence.

There is surf to suit all standards of surfers along the south west coast of Portugal, and those looking for the classic hollow waves will not be disappointed. Those looking for gentle waves will also find these in abundance.
